| Your Personal Biography |
American contemporary painter Kristi Taylor (born Rebecca Kristina Bruce March 11, 1976) grew up in Bristol TN, a small city nestled the region of the Appalachian Mountains where Tennessee, North Carolina and Virginia intersect and form several National Parks. She currently resides in nearby Kingsport TN on a beautiful mountain lake so it's no surprise she finds inspiration from nature.
A lifelong attraction to visual expression led Taylor to pursue a Bachelors of Fine Art from East Tennessee State University in the late 1990s. After graduation in 1999, to continue her art she took a variety of new media positions and found her foundation in art and design an invaluable asset. Painting remained an outlet for creative freedom and experiments with color and form were often tied to new media endeavors. Then in 2007 graphic meets organic and a cohesive collection of paintings, Tree Views emerged which showcased a bold individual style that had developed quietly over nearly a decade.
The Tree View Series began in Autumn just after the leaves had fallen from the trees and Taylor found inspiration in the shapes created in the empty sky. The name Tree View is a subtle nod to new media as it shares the name with a common menu style. The Tree View collection of paintings has continued to grow, evolving into several new series which solidify Taylor's trademark modern landscapes of iconic trees. Sunlit Tree and Sunlit Forest Series bring focus to the element of light and Tree Songs draws from the feeling or mood created by music for inspiration.
Kristi Taylor's unique style of contemporary landscape has a freshness that has quickly gained popularity with collectors and the attention of publishers. |
