Artist Statement:
Many well-known art critics in
Russia value the works by
U.Lavrentev high
and say that he is "a master
of a complicated allegoric
painting", an artist
"who creates his own
mythological and poetical
conception of life".
The works by U.Lavrentev draw
attention not only because
they are
whimsically decorative, but
because they are
philosophically monumental as
well. Some of his artworks at
the same time remind you of
ancient cuneiform
and of modern picture-writing,
they give an impression of
some sense lines
reflected in symbols and of
wonderful colorful patterns
and traceries,
giving you pleasure by complex
play on colors and forms.

be found in State Art Museum
in Saratov, in the
Ministry of Culture of Russia,
and also in galleries and
private collections
in Russia, Latvia, Germany,
Belgium, the USA, the UK, the

Born in 1958.
1976 - graduated from the department of Architecture and Design of State
University in Saratov.
1986 - became a member of the Russian Union of Artists.
Now works as an artist. Besides that together with his son Ilya creates
interior designs and unique building projects (one of those brought to life
is the State Medical Center in Saratov).
Participated in many regional, national and international exhibitions, among
which there are:
1998 - "Golden Palette" (national art festival), "Aesthetics" Gallery,
Saratov;
1999 - "Contemporary Art of Contemporary Russia" (group show), the Central
House of Artists, Moscow;
2001 - personal exhibition in Pavel Kuznetsov Museum, Saratov;
2001 - "Golden Palette" (national art festival), "Aesthetics" Gallery,
Saratov;
2001 - personal exhibition, Engels;
2002 - group project in Cologne, Germany;
2002 - group show of modern art in the Radischev State Art Museum, Saratov;
