| Your Personal Biography |
YOGAMY FERRERAS was born in 1978 in Santo Domingo, The Dominican Republic.
In 1995, at the age of 17, Yogamy studied Fine Arts at the world-renowned Altos de Chavon, a prestigious art school, an affiliate of Parsons School for Design, in La Romana in her native country. In 1997, she was awarded The Ruth Vanderpool Scholarship to study Illustration at The New School University /Parsons School for Design in New York City.
Her works are predominately studies of composition and shape, harmoniously derived from her unique sensibility to create texture with color. Yogamy incorporates a contemporary impressionistic style to create lush backdrops that naturally embrace her subjects, which are often reflective of the vibe and culture of the people in The Dominican Republic.
Yogamys work has been exhibited at several galleries both in The Dominican Republic and The United States. These include: Casa de Chavon, Santo Domingo, D.R. 1997; La Galeria, La Romana, D.R.- 1995, 1996, 1997; Parsons Galleries, NYC 1998, 1999; Rosenthal Gallery, Fayetteville, NC 2000, 2001; Period Gallery, NYC 2002; Columbia University, NYC 2005; Niagara, NYC 2007.
She holds a BFA Degree in Illustration from Parsons School for Design and works as an Illustrator/Designer. |
