Artist Statement:
Having returned to painting in
acrylic, oil, watercolour and
other media in 2003 (after a
couple of decades of other
creative pursuits), it was
thrilling to rediscover the
artist's adventure. The long
dry spell, I soon found, had
been the draped curtain before
my subconscious, which all
along was logging life
experiences and impressions
and preparing them into a
kaleidoscope memory for future
access.
My favourite painter is the
great master Russian, Marc
Chagall, who created and
perhaps recreated a world of
his memories on canvas and
other supports and in a
variety of media. He painted
vivid dreams with, in his own
words, "colours that whistle."
While I know I'll never
produce as prolifically or
intrically such great works,
I'm inspired by his methods
and philosophies to paint my
own dreams and stories. Art
has become such a way of life
for me that I have literally
abandoned all previous hobbies
to devote all my spare time to
creating images from my soul,
and perhaps sharing their
beauty or abstract images with
other hearts. Feel free to
