Artist Statement:
Leeritian is a
Chinese-Canadian visual artist
working in hotography,
sculpture, installation and
performance. Since 1989, he
has exhibited both nationally
and internationally, with
group and solo shows in
Canada, China and the United
States. His awards and grants
include Canada Council for the
Arts, Ontario Arts Council,
Toronto Arts Council, and the
Golden Prize from the Art
Museum of Guangdong (China).
His works are part of private
and public collections in many
countries.
Ritian usually likes to
express the modern society and
the cultural phenomena. His
idea comes from my native
language and he devotes to
combine the traditional and
new Chinese cultural symbolism
of contemporary context. It
also integrates his Chinese
heritage with Western
post-modernist culture.
