Artist Statement:
Legassi Brumbaugh has lived in
the Austin area most of her
life. Her artwork is inspired
by African American history,
culture and heritage. While
her earlier works featured
strong representational
graphite and charcoal
drawings, her latest works are
more of a loose abstraction of
form in a sea of color. A
majority of her works are with
watercolor and charcoal.
Legassi also uses egg tempera,
graphite and oil. Her
influences are the late Dr.
John T. Biggers and Paul
Goodnight....
