| Your Personal Biography |
Though I have studied and am familiar with many different materials for painting though my graphic design work, when I began creating my own paintings, I instantly chose acrylics as my medium. It is very important to me and my technique that I use a material that dries quickly since I often purposely add layers on top layers or mix layers together right on the canvas. I find this necessary in order to be able to achieve the final vision and look of a piece. I create in the moment and on the canvas -- never from a sketch, photo or outline.
Why painting?
Actually, sculpture has always been an interest of mine and I have experimented with a few pieces. However, I cannot deny the powerful effect colors have on my being! It's as if I have an intense pull to express the mood, feelings and emotions that have formed within me through color and all the fine shadings and meanings that colors convey.
Is there any way in which painting and your life have been inseparable?
Painting is my life! When I decided to leave the Graphic Design world to commit myself solely to painting, I wasn't trading up and securing my future with a more lucrative job! At the same time, it was not even a question that I had to just paint.
Creating colors and juxtaposing them to convey nuances through the finest shadings and details, is similar to composing music and the emotion the slightest change in notes can make. Indeed, I often turn to the piano and compose there to complete a mood or image in my mind.
Painting is the answer to my own personal search for happiness!
