Artist Statement:
Painting and drawing for me
has always been a journey of
exploration into an obscure
language of shape, texture and
pattern, where memory, image
and impressions are
intertwined in a continuing
process of discovery.

Sometimes, there may be many
false starts before an image
comes together, other times,
the end goal, where image and
shape take form as a kind of a
Zen, or a gestalt, emerges
very quickly. ...

Biggest Artistic Inspiration My inspiration comes from within, and tends to feed iself. I am fascinated by pattern, colour and reflective surfaces, also by the layers of texturing.

Why Did You Become An Artist I always drew a lot as a child, but at 19, I discovered 'psychic automatism.' I started making series upon series of paternisitc drawings. However, later on, I wanted input from other techniques, so attended course on painting, life drawing, working with mixed media.

Your Personal Biography I was born in 1959 in Southampton, England and graduated with a degree in English/Italian literature from the University of Warwick in 1981.

Most of the Artwork you can see on these pages here, however, is abstract. It consists of a form of psychic automatism, in which the images come to me as a subconscious/psychic process, an explanation and recently, I have been involved with the Remodernist movement and have been instrumental in organising the first online exhibiton of remodernism - opening date 1 Jan 2009.The work involves using mixed-media, either in the form of collages on paper, or on board using raw materials ranging from fabric pieces and wax to glass fragments.

I have a diploma in Fine Arts from the Leamington College of FE Leamington Spa, 1985, and a Certificate in Course Materials from Coventry University, 1987. Both courses were part-time. Whilst living in Coventry, I exhibited in both joint and solo exhibitions with a group of artists based in Hillfields, Coventry, where I was also based. My three solo exhibitions were all hosted in a small gallery above an artshop in Spon Street, Coventry. The first, in 1989, was called 'Vistas,' the second, in 1992, 'Magma,' the third, in 1998, 'Pearl in the Oyster.' In 1994, after moving to Brighton, I also exhibited with a gallery called The Bear Cave and showed my worked in various cafs and similar venues throughout the city. My first exhibition in Budapest was held in a community centre in the 11 District in 1998. In 2002 there was also an exhibition at an art gallery in Vc, whilst currently, examples of my work are still on view at the Berlitz Language School at Bajczi Zsilinszsky 29, and at the VAM Design Centre, at Vci Utca 62. Most recently, from May 28-June 26, I have exhibited at the Peter Mansfeld Gallery in Csepel, Budapest, at http://www.csepel-muszaki.hu/kiallits

More recently I have frequently been showing my work at various venues in Budapest via an organisation of artists called Arteon.hu

I have also designed a full 78-colour deck of Tarot cards, the trumps of which have been published by Adam Mc Clean.
