Presented here are semi
abstract landscapes and
coastal horizons based on
memories of times spent
travelling in and around the
Cornish landscape. I use
thick impasto layers in
combination with thin layers
of paint which create a sense
of depth and movement in the
work, and provide the painting
with it’s identity and
uniqueness. I am interested
in uniting textural surfaces,
opposing and akin; working
from memory, photographs, and
sketches. My work is often
ambiguous; and although very
much concerned with surface
and texture, by quietly asking
the viewer to look past the
works’ immediate façade,
the paintings seek to prompt
resonant memories.
