BIOGRAPHY 1950 Mario Cossu was born on July. 1964 Teenager was pupil of Elica e Luce Balla, daughters of the futurist painter Giacomo. 1968 Graduated at the secondary school focusing on humanities, “Tito Lucrezio Caro” of Rome. 1974 Enroled at the Faculty of Economy and Commerce he passed 16 courses. 1977-1978 collective exhibitions in Rome “Anna Pane” Foundation, the “Città Eterna” Gallery and others, some prizes, the Absolutely First Prize at the Tevere Expo’ 1978, Trophy from State Undersecretary for P.T. 1978-1985 he drew comics for several publishers, among which“Corriere dello Sport-Stadio”. 1985 illustrator for publishing (covers and illustrations for books and magazines of many publishers among which Mondadori, Rizzoli and american magazine “Scientist”), advertising and packaging for clients like Plasmom, Bonomelli, COOP, Cirio, EPSON. He was teacher of artistic techniques at several private institutes in various cities of Italy. 1987 he lives and works in Milan. Many images created by him are distributed by “images.com” agency in N.Y. In the 80’s he was member of the Association of Illustrators and of its Directorate. On 2002 of the Association of Illustrators UK. 1997 again collective exhibitions of paintings: Castellazzo (2 at the Gallery Gamondo), Piovera (3 at the Cultural Center “Il Gufo”), Frugarolo (2 with “Ars Italica.com”), Lucca (Associazione Rinascimento), Rome (International Academy Modern Art:Medusa Aurea Trophy). 2000 first one man exhibition: Centro Artistico Tortonese, in Tortona. 2000 art portals and galleries on Web. World Web Award of Excellence by Art Space 2000 for two sites of his: “Realistic Oil Paintings on Canvas” (http://www.geocities.com/mariocossu/index.html) “Surrealistic Oil Paintings on Canvas”. 2003 His father Antonio, engineer, was a famous restorer of monuments in Rome and Latium. He worked for more than 30 years to the maintenance and repair of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Rome. Here Mario took part in the Biennial of Contemporary Art that Prof. Giancarlo Alù organized in onour of the painter Ippolito Caffi, Garibaldi’s soldier. On 2004 and 2005 exhibited at the Gallery “Ars Italica” next to Piazza Duomo in Milan. Between 2005 and 2006 five paintings of his were shown for two months in the hall of Plaza Hotel in the center of Milan. On 2006 joined to 2 collective exhibitions at the “New Ars Italica” Gallery in via De Amicis. February 2006 on the magazine “Arte”(Cairo Editore) an article was titled “L’iperrealismo di Mario Cossu”. Mario is selected by the Scientific Commitee of the Catalogue Arte 2006 by Giorgio Mondadori Editore and won a Merit Degree at the “Premio Arte 2006”. January 2007 was selected and exhibited at the Premio Open Art 2007, in the Sala Bramante in piazza del Popolo in Roma, with the patronage of Municipality, Province of Roma and Regione Latium. October 2007 took part with a one-man exhibition to the Four Years of Contemporary Art “Leonardo da Vinci – Artists in the History”, at the Fatherland’s Altar in Rome, on initiative of Museo Nazionale Garibaldino, Associazione Stampa Sabina –Tiberina, Lions Club and Thomas Charles Galleries USA, organized e cured by the Artistic Director Mrs Lucia Bonacini, by Prof. Giancarlo Alù and by Prof. Francesco Guidotti. Honour Degree. October 2007 his oil on board “High Bergamo under snow” won a Merit Diploma at “Premio Arte 2007” and was published on september 2007 issue of the magazine “Arte”. Soon the Thomas Charles’s Gallery in Phoenix (Arizona) will host his paintings for an itinerant exhibition. |
