Why Did You Become An Artist I have always loved flowers and the garden from a very early age. So, I began drawing copies of flowers from a book and painting them in watercolour and then poster colour.
I draw and paint in acrylic mostly also charcoal,hard/soft pastels, and oil pastels.

Your Personal Biography I live in Croydon in the United Kingdom. My home town is Southampton in the South of England. I went to a Church School at 5 until 11 then to an ordinary Secondary Modern School. I trained as a Nurse in a London Hospital at 18 and qualified. After 6 months I did a Post Graduate course in Pyschiatric Nursing in London, and qualified in 1962. I continued working in Pyschiatry for a few years. I also tried my Vocation as a Nun in Anglican Orders, but left to join the Roman Catholic Church. I married at the age of 45. I have no children, but I have my brother who lives in Southampton. My Mother said that as a child I was always in the garden looking at plants and flowers.
I bought one of those small books with flowers and plants illustrated in it. So, I began copying these small flowers and painting them. I found it fascinating. I still find copying other peoples work with flowers enjoyable. However, now I like to do designing of my own especially at the Art Group that I joined about 3 years ago. Also, some 7 years ago I got my first Computer and what a revelation that was. I bought a Fuji Digital Camera and began photographing flowers around where I lived. I bought various desktop publishing software and started computer manipulation of the flower photographs I had taken. These are all originals of my work and I can honestly say when I have finished a piece of design I really don't know how or what I did to achieve it. It just happens. So, it is a constant thrill to see a design evolve.
I design cards for any occasion for people, birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, Christmas, Calenders etc, you name it and I will do it. I have my own Web site for this if you want a look it is at www.cutecards.co.uk I work with Adobe Photoshop CS2, Coral Paint Shop X, but I have various desktop publishing programs for designing my cards. I still would like to go into Web Design, but find I do not have the time as yet!
