| Why Did You Become An Artist |
Since my early childhood I was very often in a creative mood, drawing, puzzeling with things, working with my hands.
I come from an artist family so they supported my passion from the start. It was always clear to me that being an artist was going to be a important part of my life. |

| Your Personal Biography |
Born in Brussels in 1983,
My father was an interior-architect and my mother was decorator, they both have studied at the St. Lucas School of Arts in Brussels .
At age fifteen I went myself to study at the same school as my parents.
Here flourished my artistic world for the first time to a wide range of knowledge about artists, and options for developing and identifying new disciplines and techniques.
For the first time I took part in a group exhibition in 2000, since then I participate in exhibits almost every year.
Motivated by my teacher, I decided to continue my studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp in order to study classical sculpture there. I earned my degree in 2005, two months later, my father died.
I continued my studies at the academy to expand my disciplines. I opted for graphics because the alchemy of the etching technique fascinated me very much.
However, devastated by the death of my father, my etchings became quite morbid. Life and death became one in my work, I made no difference between the two. Looking upon death as a scary face that could actually be beautiful if we look at it in a different way.
By that time I also studied aggregate to become a teacher in fine arts, this is what my fathers had always wished for, but after five years of trying I finally gave up teaching because I didn’t feel this was my devotion.
After my studies I made here and there some pieces for friends with the intent to promote my work and gain experience. I illustrate cd covers, books, and made sculptures for a bar where I have worked as a waitress. Over time, I also worked as a intern in sculptors studios.
My time in Antwerp lasted six years, before I moved to Essen, a small village in the outer northern part of Belgium. Conditions of living where hard but amazingly beautiful in the country land, it was my dream to stay, but conditions made me move out and went back to my roots.
I moved to Brussels, partly because by this time I fell crazy in love with music, and more specifically west-African blues and traditionals, In Brussels I found a teacher to study the Kamele Ngoni: a west African string instrument.
After two years of discovering the music scene in Brussels I turned back to the art-scene, decided to continue with solo-exhibitions
