Urvashi Maya Mani grew up all over India & the World, Her travels have influenced her canvas and imbued her art with a fresh perspective. The materials Urvashi chooses to communicate with are varied. Acrylics, Inks, Charcoals and Oil Pastels expressed on Canvas, Hand-made & Archival paper. She enjoys innovating with new mediums and is excited by the results of these unconventional marriages.
The creative process for Urvashi typically begins with photographs of the ordinary-vegetables in a grocer's cart, a patch of flowers on the side of the road, or a child running across a garden. These photographs are then transformed by her mystical mind into colorful compositions.
Her itinerant soul is thoroughly enjoying this journey, just as she has all her other wanderings. To quote her musings on the subject: "I know I have barely touched the surface, I have miles to go. I will get there, and then.. there will be more." |
