Artist Statement:
Painting is my greatest joy
and the communication of
meaning my greatest challenge.
Typically, I alter the scale
of images to create a surreal
atmosphere, using symbolism
and metaphor to call attention
to sociopolitical issues.

My work is derived from a
collage or assemblage - this
process being similar to that
of massurrealists. To me
massurrealism encompasses all
we know and imagine but
focusing on contrasts such as
mass media/personal feelings;
organic objects/man made
objects; reality/fantasy et
al. In this regard, the
mandalas represent history as
whitewashed by time vs eye
witness accounts. This series
represents 7 years researching
these contrasts....
