Artist Statement:
TO CREATE IS TO ISOLATE A MOMENT IN TIME AND BRING IT TO VISUAL REALITY.
THE ARTIST SHARES IN THIS EXPANDED CONSCIOUSNESS BY BRINGING HIS/HER
SENSIBILITY AND EXPERIENCES INTO THE CONTEXT OF THE WORK.
I TRY TO EXPRESS IN MY WORK THE EXUBERANT/SADNESS THAT IS LIFE'S HEARTBEAT, THE
DIALECTIC THAT FLOWS THROUGH THE HUMAN EXPERIENCE. I LOVE TO USE
EXPERIMENTAL PROCESSES TO TRY AND EXPAND THE EXPERIENCE OF PAINTING.
MUCH OF THE WORK CONTAINS SOME GEOMETRIC, AND ORGANIC ELEMENTS OF DESIGN.
I LOVE COLOR, FLOW OF PAINT, AND TRANSITIONS. I TRY TO ENGAGE THE VIEWER IN
THE HEALING EXPERIENCE OF THE PAINT. I AM CONSTANTLY TRYING TO BRING
PEOPLE INTO THE PAINTINGS SO THAT THEY CAN SEE BEYOND THE MERELY PHYSICAL,
AND SHARE IN THE MIRACLE THAT IS LIFE AND CREATION.

| Why Did You Become An Artist |
I became an artist because I had no choice.
Art possesses you, not the other way around.
Painting is the most amazing form of expression,
and doesn't allow dishonesty or guile. We
can speak through our paintings in a way
that resonates honestly and directly to the
human heart. An artist needs to be a slave to
the creative process. It is our expression of life. |

| Your Personal Biography |
Born in New York. Our family moved to Caracas,
Venezuela while I was growing up. A violent
revolution there necessitated our education in
a convent boarding school in Barbados. We returned
to the US, and moved to Florida. I left for New York,
and completed my undergraduate degree at St.
John's University, and my graduate degree at CWPost
University. I received a $5000 NEA grant in New York
for painting. I also received a $60,000 CETA grant
to initiate The Westfield Artists' Cooperative. I have
had shows extensively in New York, Virginia, Florida,
St Lucia and Canada, and am in private and public
collections.
In painting, I attempt to express the dialectic in
man, the exuberant/sadness of life's heartbeat,
the pulse and the flow that is man's very legacy.
I love to experiment and create a healing reality
in the paint, in the never ending process of
creating.
