Artist Statement:
The figurative, literary work of Margot Dukker-Groot, that mainly exists out of pen drawings and oil paintings, can not be named with a certain style. She mainly goes her own way with a scope on the inside. On the one hand Margot shows her own fantasyworld in which dream and mystery are important aspects, on the other hand she makes work from a more realistic context, showing involvement with the world and her problems. Particulary the flora and fauna, which are threatened by human activities. Everyday we are confrontated with a lot of bad news, brought to us by the media. The reaction on that can be found in a couple of works she made. But a large amount of humour and the ability to relativate can also be discovered in her work by the spectator with an eye for detail.
Margot Dukker has been educated in teaching art and spent a couple of years as anatomical illustrator in connection with the anatomical laboratory of the university of Amsterdam. There she got used to what lies under the skin and still experiences mystery and beauty in what she saw aswell.
