Artist Biography

Born in Bulgaria, Plovdiv.

Education:
Masters in Library and Information Studies, McGill University; Canada, Montreal.
Bachelor in Political Science, Concordia University; Canada, Montreal.
Diploma in Bibliography and Information, Institute of Librarians; Bulgaria, Sofia.
Fluent in: English, Bulgarian, Russian, and Macedonian.
Other languages spoken: French, Polish.

From 1990 to 1997 lived and studied in Canada, Montreal.
Since 1997 lives and works in New York. Most of the art works are done in New York.
Preferred technique: oil; Experimented with mixed techniques such as water color, pastel, acrylic, pencil, etc.

Since 2001 the artist participates every year in group and solo exhibitions in New York. To name some of them: Fantasy and Temptation; Idyll (solo exhibitions),
Color Vision; Common Ground (group exhibitions). These exhibitions took place in various cultural enterprises and galleries such as the Curb Art Place (Manhattan), the Bulgarian Consulate General (Manhattan), the Brooklyn Public Library, the Caribbean Art and Cultural Center (Brooklyn).

Since 1997 the artist works at the Brooklyn Public Library as Library Information Supervisor. At the Pacific branch where she presently works and previously at the Greenpoint Branch she has been highly involved with the community cultural and educational affairs. She has been promoting art in the communities through a joined program between the Brooklyn Public Library and the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA). This program brings art presentations to the library. The art lecturers talk about art and artists, painting, different art styles and movements. In addition, she initiated, promoted, and organized many exhibitions at several libraries inviting artists from Europe, Canada, and the US. The artist is taking part in charitable exhibitions such as the Greenpoint 100 which engage artists to donate their work and raise funds for the library. The artist ability to introduce culture and educate the community transcends the visual arts. Working steadily and creatively she has brought to the public over fifty cultural and music programs. Many of these programs were featuring classic musicians who performed at the Carnegie Hall, jazz musicians who performed at the Joe’s Pub, the Blue Note, and folk musicians who have performed in many famous places. All musicians come from different parts of the world and have been well known all over the world.
As a person with a multitude of talents, she also wrote a play and she illustrated it. Further she directed, made the decors, raised the money, and presented the play to the public. The exhibitions, the music, theater, and all programs she created have attracted thousands of people who came to enjoy them.
