| Your Personal Biography |
Mark Raynes Roberts is a world renowned, multi-award-winning goldsmith, crystal artist and designer born in 1961 in Sutton Coldfield, England, who has resided in Toronto, Canada since 1982. His work balances a modern sensibility with ancient techniques, with recipients of his work including international leaders in business, the arts, sports and sciences.
In his 30-year career Mark Raynes Roberts has gained an international reputation as an artist who works in a medium few have mastered. Trained in his native Britain, he creates crystal masterpieces remarkable for their precision and detail, and for the beauty and complexity of their meaning. From large 8-foot crystal sculpture to architectural glass and smaller sculptures - some of which incorporate precious metals - Raynes Roberts’ one-of-a-kind pieces have been showcased in London and New York and reside in the private and corporate collections of an international clientèle.
As a creative artist and sculptor, he remains introspective about his work, which has been concerned with transcendence over adversity and the universality of human striving and challenge. Currently his art is focused on the complex issues that challenge all of humanity including human equality, (Project HUMANITY - FROM THE DARK TO THE LIGHT) the human relationship with the environment, (GLASSLANDS COLLECTION) and human capacity to celebrate our lives and mortality through hope.
