Artist Statement:
I believe that art is the manifestation of my longing to achieve a spiritual fulfillment, expressing that part of me associated with mind, body and feelings. And being true, my art must always communicate to this truth and for this aspiration. Therefore, it is my desire to refine my truth through the process of my art, to a simple visual statement and universal meaning for all people.

| Why Did You Become An Artist |
I don't believe I chose to be an "artist", it just evolved as a part of my everyday life. My sisters and I were raised on classical music and jazz. My father played the clarinet, mother played the violin and my sisters played the piano. I enjoyed singing, dancing and acting in school plays. Mom was very talented as a hat designer and created beautiful clothing for her four daughters. Dad was a carpenter and created buildings from blue-print designs. Sometimes, he'd let me help him in his shop and hammer nails or cut wood with a saw. I was naturally a "tom-boy", climbing in trees with my sister, Alice; making things or creating games from our imagination. So the creative process began naturally in my childhood, and my decision to focus on painting and drawing became my passion after the birth of my second child. |

Biography
I was born in San Antonio, Texas, and presently live and work in Southern California. Exhibiting throughout the United States and Italy, my recent work features acrylic painting and mixed media on canvas and paper. While creating painterly interpretations inspired by nature, my work is about color, shape and light. "I always try and work from my intuition, trusting the process of creative play, imagination and memory. When I have an idea for a series, I write it down as a phrase in my sketchbook. I might see something interesting while walking, or listening to music or recording a dream. Then one day I'll start working with an idea and the images, marks, colors and words take form, sometimes as a drawing or painting, other times a poem or objects arranged in a setting. I like to create in a series, diverging into more possibilities. As I begin working, images evolve through me and I am discovering in the process what I don't know, or what I didn't know I already knew.'
