Artist Statement:
Michele was born in 1973 in Miami, Arizona. She was raised mostly in West Texas and New Mexico and at the age of 17, when her daughter was a year old, she moved to Philadelphia. She put herself through school and worked hard to provide for her daughter. After seven years, she returned to the southwest and settled in Taos, New Mexico for the next 9 years. She first began exhibiting works at silent auctions in Taos, where she donated small wood sculptures. These works were priced from the 100 to 600 dollar range and sold immediately. In Taos, Michele was able to explore many mediums and took private classes from several local Taos artists. When her daughter graduated from Taos High School and received a full academic scholarship to attend NYU, Michele decided to spend more time delving into Hindu practices and studies. These studies have clearly influenced her work. She has recently returned from a four month stay at her Guru’s Ashram in India and is currently working on finding ways to balance her desire to be completely immersed in her Spiritual life with the necessity of financial independence. “While it is necessary for me to be ...

| Your Personal Biography |
I am a child of the Goddess...pure and free and wild. I paint and sing and dance and cry and retreat into caves of emptiness when I can no longer bear the noise of the world.
If you try to control me or confine me I will disappear and you may never see me again. I cannot be owned by you I cannot be ruled by you. I would prefer to simply die than to allow your limited beliefs to shackle my Spirit.
Butterflies are beautiful...you have to just let them fly freely...An artist is not someone whose art is confined to the limits of one canvas. |
