Artist Statement:
We are taught to believe that reality is objective. However reality can be very subjective. This realization of subjective reality and truth is the central theme of the work. My work explores the idea of reality versus illusion and the remnants of these subjective realities, which we encounter in our lives. In addressing the issue of the delusional properties of life, both physical as well as metaphysical, works are illusionist in nature. Nonetheless, the work never claims to be the illusion itself. It many times creates the vestige, simple fragments of those apparitions. They are fleeting in nature and materials used in making of the works are that of ephemeral in nature to emphasize and mirror those momentary events. The manifestations of these intangible and ungraspable events are the traces that are left behind of them....

| Your Personal Biography |
Jin Kim is a South Korean born artist who grew up in United States. His Eastern roots have influenced his work as well as his life in States. Jin Kim is BFA candidate spring 2009 in painting at Savannah College of Art and Design in spring of 2009, where he studied with artists Avantica Bawa and Michael Brown. Kim has received Kiah Painting Scholarship, Gene Arthur Alcott Scholarship, Alcott New York Trip Scholarship. He has exhibited his works in various venues around local galleries in Atlanta. |
