Artist Statement:
David attended Hornsey College of Arts and Crafts in the 1960s. After spending several years in Edinburgh, Scotland, where he became very interested in Tapestry Weaving, this led him on to using weaving as a medium to sculpture and environmental art. His woven steel sculptures are an adaptation of the same process as willow weaving but allow more permanence in an outdoor environment. He is very interested in constructing pieces out of natural materials and also has an interest in transient and conceptual art which he has found very useful in teaching. His pieces range in size from small steel fish to longboats and even a willow castle. He is helped on the larger pieces by his son Adam who also has arts college training and background. All pieces are made individually from commission with consultation with the client. Prices vary according to individual requests....
