Artist Statement for Alicia Carr
|
|
|
Born in Guayaquil, Ecuador, I studied in "La Escuela de Bellas Artes" of Guayaquil but I'm mainly self taught. Some of my artwork is signed using my maiden name Sotomayor. I'm the daughter of the talented Chilean painter, Alicia Hermosilla de Sotomayor, and my father was Dr. Gonzalo Sotomayor Navas, a bacteriologist, a writer, a humanitarian and a free thinker. I grew up surrounded by artbooks and science books.
My artwork is divided into two parts:
Fantastic subjects and dreams. And portraits, preferably fantasy portraits, for example you in your favorite fantasy, being some fantastic character such as a warrior, knight, angel or fairy.
