| Why Did You Become An Artist |
Satisfaction of completing works is gratifying and challenging. Creative talents need to be expressed. Art should be part of everyone's life. I believe this to be essential, not extraordinary. |

| Your Personal Biography |
Born in New York. Mother is a master weaver, educated at American School of Craftsman, of Swedish heritage. Father from a creative, religious, musical family from Kentucky, which emigrated from Bavaria to the english colony of Virginia in 1732. Father died when I was young, mother remarried soon after. Stepfather Finnish (Sundvik). Influenced from Swedish art and design, strong interest in boats and maritime heritage led me to sea after graduation from Dartmouth College in 1975. Traveled for 2.3 years throughout Australia, Western Pacific, and Indian Ocean Regions. Entered Grad school for Oceanography in 1980, in Rhode Island and have lived here ever since. Work for US Navy, still travel for work. Eldest son Albert Garr completed a BFA in art and graphic design at school his grandparents attended, Alfred University. |
