Nicholas Stedman's Premiere Artist Portfolio
Welcome to Nicholas Stedman's Portfolio. Nicholas Stedman was born in Portsmouth in the United Kingdom. After graduating from the University of Cambridge and obtaining a PhD in biochemistry from the University of Paris, he opted to become an artist in 1985.
The human body has always been at the centre of his research. Enigmatic or emblematic, static or moving figures haunt his paintings
Inspired by the work of American Choreographers such as Merce Cunningham or Lucinda Childs, he has developed a pictorial system that attempts to attenuate all emotional, psychological or narrative considerations. This has led to an irreversible breakdown in the picture space.
After working and exhibiting yearly in Paris, France, Nicholas Stedman moved to Siracusa in Sicily in 2010.
