Artist Statement:
Form, movement and
colour fascinate me. I view
life holistically, take
pleasure in variegated meaning
and context as means to
transcend realistic
representation into the world
of spirit, ideas and values.
I hope to engage the viewer
long enough to look beyond the
surface of my last layer of
paint, into a realm of
contemplation where together
we can interface with the
voice of creative
consciousness. ...

Biggest Artistic Inspiration I am a lover of music, and play several instruments myself, so it is natural for me to paint musicians. I am influenced as well by my own spiritual heritage and the Bible. In many ways, my paintings are a reflection of who I am and what I am passionate about. I have felt most satisfied when I know that my art has touched people's lives in some way. A print of one of my paintings has helped to raise money every year for a Children's Orphanage in Africa.

Why Did You Become An Artist I have been painting for most of my life. For the last 10 years I have worked primarily in acrylic and have developed a deep appreciation for this incredible medium. I have also done some printmaking, mainly lino block. I enjoy the process of painting—taking blobs of paint at the end of my brush and working them onto the canvas to create something new. During the painting process, I often think about the technique of the art itself - the overall design, colour scheme, eye movement, balance and values; but I also think about what I am trying to communicate, and how to create the illusion of movement and of multiple ideas. When I have completed a painting, my goal is to involve the viewer - to draw him/her in, to contemplate for more than 5 seconds what has taken me many hours to create. I am hoping to reach inside the viewer and perhaps to reveal another dimension of the world of spirit, ideas and values.
