Artist Statement for Norma Poulos
|
|
|
I wear many hats in the art field - artist, instructor, author and TV personality and enjoy all of them. My work spills over many techniques and mediums - oils, acrylics and watercolors in the realistic, the impressionistic and creative realms. My Absolute Arts portfolio is composed of a Pot Pouri of techniques along with a sprinkling of portraits.
National and International students are taught through my "Norma Poulos Teacher's Certification Home Study Course." The Certification Course is designed for those who aspire to teach or for those who just want to learn the basics or brush up on skills such as mood, easy drawing, color, composition, perspective, etc. The course is $450.00. Homework is mailed for grading and Certificate is award upon completion. Being able to teach students in other countries is rewarding as English is my only language. We communicate though the language of ART (pictures) with homework through mail. For information visit www.NormaPoulos.com.
I have nine instructional books, Landscapes by Norma Vols.1 through 4, Painting With Norma, Vols. 4 through 8 and Fabric Painting with Norma also many painting packets and DVD's featured on my website. www.NormaPoulos.com.
My PBS TV series featured instructional painting in oil and acrylic. Regular classes, Creative Seminars and Portrait Seminars are taught in my Forest Park, GA studio.
Creative Seminars are structured toward overcoming artist's block, with students beginning a painting with no perceived notion of an outcome. Student's are taught to "Get Loose" by pouring paint onto the canvas or covering the canvas by pasting colored tissue papers then searching for shapes in the paint or paper to bring forth.
Portrait Seminars are geared toward changing a photo image into a portrait by changing clothing, background, lighting, etc. in order to show his/her character.
Juring and Judging arts shows/exhibits is another hat I wear and one of my favorite duties. Recently, I was called on to judge entries from a large group to serve an apprenticeship with NALL in France.
