| Your Personal Biography |
Norman Nelson
Born, in Illinois and moved to Boise, Idaho at age 5. Began painting
in Junior High School and took art at Boise High. Minored in Art from George Roberts at the University of Idaho, graduated with BA in Journalism.
Mentored by portrait painter John Collias in traditional oil approaches since l980. Working with Collias on plein air projects developed an impressionistic approach to oil combining heavily textured paint applied
with a knife and traditional brush techniques. Over the past 5 years
have worked extensively with outdoor work on watercolors from which to
create large studio oils. Now working watercolor into a more abstract
approach with ink, salt, and heavy scrapping.
Presently developing 'Wilderness' a 20 piece exhibition of oil, watercolor, and pastel images from Idaho's most wild places.
