Artist Statement for Oksana Linde

I paint and draw since very young, and sometimes feel I am in a dream. When I close my eyes, many times I have extraordinary visions impossible to paint.
I do not care about what is in fashion but what comes to my mind and try to reproduce it...I like to experiment with different techniques and mediums. In the same day I have the need to do different things, so it seems that it is not the same person who is painting...
Dream and reality merge frequently
Generally I paint non real animals, strange cities. I Need freedom in art.
For relaxing, I love making collage and watercolor, also ink drawing.
Collage is such a wonderful world! You can discover a hidden universe putting together different pieces of whatever you find.
But when I make mixed media large artworks, it is difficult to stop for me. Ideas after ideas keep filling my mind, and I have not enough possibilities to do all I would like.
I was born in Venezuela, from Ukrainian origin.
My mother, Halyna Krychevska-Linde, taught me some painting techniques. She was a many-sided artist and artisan.
My grandfather, Vasyl H. Krychevsky was an extraordinaryly talented artist, a humble and merciful personality. He died when I was four, but his influence on me has been intense. He is considered the "Father of Ukrainian Modern Style", "Father of Ukrainian Modern Architecture", "Co-founder of Ukrainian Constructivist modern design".
Most of his artworks perished during WWI and WWII. (
