Artist Statement:
My work is dedicated to
exploration and expression of
the tragedy of the human
condition(s) through the
medium of non-representational
painting. Abstract
expressionist practice enables
me to transcend the realm of
the obvious, the known and the
fixed to bring me closer to
creativity that is more fluid
and immediate. My paintings
tend to be characterised by
tactile surfaces which add
physicality to the works. For
me, clotted and acrylic-caked
canvasses reveal themselves as
documents of the human
existential struggle. The
creative process itself
encompasses different and
varied techniques that seek to
uncover the untold and the
unseen. The end result is not
prescriptive but suggestive of
the solitude and the
intermittent absurdity of
human existence....
