Artist Statement for Pam Michel

Being a musician, as well as a mosaicist, has resulted in a unique perspective on how I visualize things. Just as music creates an auditory "picture" using rhythm, melody, timbre, & meter, mosaics create a visual picture utilizing order, texture, color and type of materials or tesserae. The elements work together to create an overall effect or mood. Because of this connection I feel between these art forms and the passion I have for both, I have come to call my mosaics, "Visual Music." It is my desire that my clients feel the heartbeat of the pieces I create.

My passion in wall art centers around Biblical and religious themes. The items I have posted here are all based on specific scriptures. I recently sold an 8-part series called "Creation," based upon the first chapter of the book of Genesis. You may view the series on my web site in my Gallery under "Biblical Art." The next series I produce will be based upon the Beatitudes.

Currently, I produce a variety of items in a wide range of styles, in order to market my business. You will find many of these items for sale on my web site. I enjoy mixing a broad range of tesserae within the same mosaic piece, and my personal favorite is Celtic designs. In addition to Biblical and religious art, my goal is to produce primarily commissioned art and architectural decor in private, as well as commercial settings.
