Artist Statement:
Biser Ivanov Panayotov's
richly imaginative canvasses
are filled with delicate but
bold shapes and colors. The
images evoke organisms,
landscapes, and objects with
their graceful curves and
elaborate detail. The subtle
tones of rich red and orange,
watery blue and sunlight
yellow indicate a fantasy
world. His work is mystical,
recalling experience rather
than intellectually laden and
symbolic, leaving the viewers
free to compose their own
meaning based on sensual
interpretation. He concerns
himself more with the
interaction of different
patterns than clearly
definable foreground and
background to create space and
depth in his paintings.
Panayotov was born and
continues to live and work in
Ruse, Bulgaria. He studied
with the famous Ruse artist
Kiril Stanchev. His first work
was exhibited in a Youth Show
in 1988 in Ruse and has
continued to exhibit work
consistently since. His
paintings are in private
collections across Europe,
Canada and the United States

I was born in 1960 in the town of Ruse, Bulgaria to a family of medical specialists. My father used to write short stories and attended a literary club in his spare time, and my mother’s hobby is painting.
I was taught my first painting lessons by the famous Ruse artist Kiril Stantchev and I painted under his guidance for three years since 1981.
I worked in the Ruse Puppet Theatre, the Ruse Opera and Economic Department of Trade where I have carried out artistic and advertising projects.
I exhibited my paintings for the first time in 1988 in a youth art exhibition in Ruse Gallery Borisova 39. Since then I have taken part every year in the annual art exhibitions. Since 1992, I have been a member of the Ruse Group of Artists. I arranged five one-man art exhibitions - in 1994, 1997, 2000 and 2004 year. I work drawings in mixed technique, oil paintings and ink on paper drawings.
