Pauline van de Ven, Netherlands, Houthem-St.Gerlach (L) 1956 obtained a Masters degree in economics at the University of Amsterdam and was on the economic editorial staffs of the major dailies Trouw and NRC Handelsblad in the early 1980's. She wrote two popular books on economics and a number of scientific publications, and founded a non-profit publishing house for published authors to keep their work available after it goes out of stock. Van de Ven started writing fiction in 1997 and painting in 1998. From 2001 onwards she dedicates herself entirely to writing fiction and painting. Her writings consist of a children's fable about death (illustrated), several well received novels and a number of printed illustrated short stories. She is autodidact in the visual arts.
