Artist Statement:
Drawing and painting ever since he was a kid. Peat Wollaeger started doing commercial art in the early 90’s and continued for almost a decade, designing for such clients as Coca-Cola, R. J. Reynolds, M&M Mars, Anheuser Busch and some lesser evils. Burned out with the Graphic arts scene and not creating his own art, he switched to doing web design, a much less creatively draining field of work for him.
His creative juices were flowing again and he had more energy to focus on his art. Wanting to transfer some of his illustrations on to glass, he thought of silk-screening it. With no real access to silk-screening equipment he looked for different means. Seeing the art of Banksy and Logan Hicks, inspired him to try stencils and spray paint to reproduce his Illustrations, and now it’s his medium of choice. The stencil is so vercitile, you can spray on many different surfaces, but in his opinion they look the best on the street in a urban landscape....
