| Why Did You Become An Artist |
I already started as a child creating sculptures and pottery. I am obsessed with faces. |

| Your Personal Biography |
As a child, Vera started creating small pottery, out of clay, which she found in a small swamp near her parents home. She got so involved in her early work that she forgot the world around her, being involved in her own private world of life and clay.
In later years her work and fascination for clay was surpressed by school and her a life consisting mostly of a daily routine of working in unattractive office space.
Only in her early 40's, Vera discovered her former passion again. In Las Vegas she studied under famous sculptor Roberta Baskin-Sheffrin. Since then, Vera creates one fascinating piece of artwork after another. Penthesilea was one of her first sculptures of a new era of pieces, originating in ancient Greek myth, European history and esotheric circles.
The artist works without any plans, drawings or drafts. In the early stages of any new sculpture she has no idea what type of person Vera wants to create, except for the definition of female or male. But usually after a few hours of intense trance-like sculptoring, visions appear, guiding Vera to the shapes and demeanors which then create a new unique sculpture of her new era.
In regards to Penthesilea, Vera noticed that the soft flowing facial expressions, the glamour of her beauty and her determined demeanour, formed the face of a proud and beautiful female fighter, one that could only be the face of a dominating Amazon queen. After intense research and studying the Amazon history, her vision became clear that Vera actually brought "Penthesilea" back into our century and the life of a society where women, such as the new German chancellor and Hillary Clinton seem to be gaining more and more power.
Mythology or not, nowbody knows for sure. But the fact is, that archaeologists found ancient graves with female skeletons from the time of the Amazons, which had weapons and arrowheads next to the skeletons. These findings were identical with graves of their male counter parts.
As an artist, residing in beautiful Lake Las Vegas, Nevada, Vera has a great interest in the local arts community and occasionally participates in art exhibitions.
