Statement: Individual works /
Grit Höhn

Photography and Installation
are the media for my artistic
work, with Video becoming an
ever stronger influence over
the past two years. The
central point of my work is
man´s relationship to his
environment, whereby
communication with people is a
very important aspect.
Behavioural situations beget
confrontation. The artistic
debate begins at that point
where I feel the structure of
the behaviour becomes complex
and complicated. The moment is
subjective. To me it is the
circumstantial which is of
interest – the interwoven
structures are captured and
become visible in my work.

Existing and/or insinuated
Situations are captured using
various means (there is no
limitation to the media I
utilize). The first step is
collection, the second
selection. I combine the
chosen material, confronting
various states with one
another in order to develop
relational structures which
provide the subject of my
debate with a theme and
visibility.

This approach mirrors my
experiences, whereby I still
wish to remain down to earth -
representative of a simple and
free person while at the same
time offering a constructive
portrayal. Differing measures
of various qualities emerge
from teamwork which become
united during the exchange
conceptual ideas – ...
