Artist Statement:
William Eicholtz sculpture brings the grand and heroic themes of art into a contemporary and post modern culture. His campy theatrical approach to figurative sculpture spans from large public commissions to successful international exhibitions. Both humorous and erotic, the artist specializes in the male figure. The modeled and cast sculptures are in fiberglass, bronze, aluminium and concrete. Traditional techniques team with current art practice to inform this unique artists work....

Awarded the 2005 Helen Lempriere Award for his sculpture “The Comrades Reward”, William Eicholtz has long been exploring themes of classical, european imagery in his contemporary sculpture. With a sense of theatricality and humour, and a unique melding of materials, he appropriates influences that place his figurative work firmly in the current art arena. |
