| Your Personal Biography |
Jorge R. Puron is a self-trained artist born in Piedras Negras, Coahuila Mexico in 1969. Using butcher paper and crayons, he began to draw at a very early age at his father`s grocery store where he worked during summer breaks. In school he was often reprimanded for letting his mind wonder as he often drew in textbooks and schoolwork. At the age of seventeen, Puron moved to Austin, Texas where a new life and broad life experiences had an impact in laying the foundation for a career that has spanned the past 12 years. Puron`s artwork has been influenced by a life lived on both sides of the US/Mexico border. Living and traveling in both the countries has allowed him to collaborate on numerous projects with artists of different disciplines, and to exhibit his work in prominent galleries and museums. In 2002 he co-founded and coordinated the project 'Art Garden'. Its main objective was the promotion of local and foreign artists that called San Miguel de Allende their home. Recently, he has also explored an interest in cinema utilizing art direction skills as a art and set designer on two independent feature lenght films. Puron- has worked on numerous commissions for art collectors and participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions. HIs work is part of private and corporate collections across North America and Europe |
