Artist Statement:
I have been creating art with a pencil or pen in my hand for as long as I can remember. I am primarily self-taught, receiving what instruction I can from books and demonstrations. I have always loved animals, wanting to become a veterinarian at one point in my life, so it seems only fitting that they become the primary source of inspiration in my art. Each creature that inhabits this earth is beautiful to me, with their own character and expressions that make them endearing, a potential model for me to try and capture on paper....

Bird watching has become one of my favorite things to do! I love to see them soaring in the sky above, and observe their quirks and personalities. |

| Biggest Artistic Inspiration |
Animals! Cats, dogs, birds, and wildlife in general keeps me fascinated to the point where I need to capture their images on paper. Working in colored pencil, I usually create my artwork from photographs that I have taken myself, although my husband and my children also enjoy photography, and have taken photos of wildlife for me to use as reference material. |

| Why Did You Become An Artist |
I don't believe that I "became" an artist; I believe I was born an artist. Being an artist is not something I decided to be, it is what makes me who I am. Without being able to create painting and drawing, I would cease to be myself. |

| Your Personal Biography |
I have loved to draw and create for as long as I can remember. Being an animal lover also helped to form me into the artist I am today. Cats and dogs are a big part of my life, and I enjoy capturing their personality and character in my work.
Except for art classes in high school, I am a primarily self-taught artist. Through reading about techniques and observing, I have developed my own unique way of creating portraits. My artwork has received many awards at juried shows and been accepted into national art events.
I live in South Carolina, near Charleston, and have been living here for over 30 years. I am married, and have three children, two teenagers at home and one twenty-something who is married and is the mother of my grandson and granddaughter.
