Artist Statement:
The works I produce are about renewal, growth, new beginnings and changes in my life. I use the beauty and essence of harmony in the world around me to explore the feelings that change in my life provokes - my internal emotions in relation to the external world. I see life as a cycle, like the seasons, a part of nature, like the forming and melting of a snow drop, to the new buds on a tree in spring and their demise in winter. In parallel, my works capture elements of my path through the cycles and changes of life, moving ever forward in to unchartered waters. The resources never ending, the journey infinite.
The actual practice of my work is done by letting go of the outcome and allowing my intuition to gain momentum until a piece is complete. It's as though the work creates itself, so I am never sure how the end result will look, but I always know instinctively when a piece is finished.
I use mainly oils on canvas, but also acrylics, pencils and inks on paper and board. I sometimes like to work in layers, building up the paint whilst wet to get good ...
