| Your Personal Biography |
André has worked in multiple art
mediums. These range from ceramics , kiln-
formed glass and painting. Each of
these mediums offer various challenges of
manipulation and fabrication.
Implementing certain ideas , thoughts and
emotions in the beginning do not
necessarily stay that way. He enjoys the surprises
of creating work
subconsciously sometimes.
His inspiration is drawn from many sources
including nature , architecture ,
metaphors , history, the abstract , places ,
symbolism , illusion and interpreted
in his own way.
André started focusing more on creating paintings,
working with acrylics and
mixed-media on canvas. He aims to capture the
beauty , light and spirit of place.
That 'place' being metaphorical and imaginary.
Some of his paintings portray a more
contemporary abstract , organic and
textured approach with a spontaneous feel. Colour
and sweeping brushstrokes all
convey a certain energy to his paintings. André
allows the viewer to connect and
feel these places (emotions) , both real and
imaginary . He hopes to portray work
that is intriguing and timeless.
In 2006 he featured on SABC 3 television art and
culture show named ' Curious
Culture '.
Many of André's artwork's have been acquired
locally and nationally and found
homes to international collectors . |
