Artist Statement:
My trees are larger than life,
and dwarf the dwellings
underneath. The trees are
unnatural, synthetic - more
like sculptured topiaries than
wild things. I work with
acrylics wet-on-wet & do not
use a medium to obtain the
heavy texture, but rely solely
on the paint, building up the
texture & blending at the same
time. I choose colors that
challenge the human eye and
sometimes make it dance around
in its socket. A work of art
does not begin and end with
the artist alone so I want my
paintings to evoke
participation. I want the
viewer to be plunged into the
scene by the simple act of
viewing. Specifically my goal
is to jolt the viewer into
serenity. ...
