Artist Statement:
Texas born and
Mississippi raised, I have
lived by lakes, rivers and the
ocean. As well as water, small
Southern towns, and different
modes of transportation
inspire my work. My rural
upbringing influences my
design.
They always say the wind and
the waves can clear your mind
and I have found it to be
true. The wind in my ears is
like white noise that consumes
my emotional and physical
activity. By my painting
outdoors, it helps me become
more familiar with land, sea
and air.
My work focuses on a series
of marinas around the low
country. I paint on location.
I like working in an impasto
style to capture the fleeting
moment with the use of a wide
range of colors. I am using
chalk pastel, oil and acrylic
to express my unique take on
everyday objects.
