Artist Statement:
Art, it can provoke social change. It can make people angry, it can soothe, it can bring joy or comfort.
As an artist, I cannot through my own efforts eliminate any of the social ills prevalent in our world. But when experienced, art can raise people’s consciousness, which is the first step toward change. Art is a survival tool, it enhances peoples lives in ways that cannot be fathomed.
Without question, I cannot change the world through art. But, each of us should strive to make a difference in those we meet. We must engage the arts s if the world and its inhabitants mattered – because rightly so, they matter deeply.
