Artist Statement:
As a painter, I am interested in touching the viewer’s spirit in a deep, long, and sensitive way. My desire to take the viewer on a transcendent trip to a place of peace, serenity and joy is the backbone of my paintings.
My passion for paper runs deep. I absolutely love working on paper surfaces. Discovering new paper and what its unique characteristics are and how it responds to watercolor or pastel, my two primary mediums, is a favorite pastime for me.
Captivated by the diversity of seascapes, from calm soothing surf to stormy seas, I bring the elements together in my watercolors and pastels using strong contrast of darks and lights. My fascination with shadows in the sand is always both a challenge and joy in my process of painting and working the paint to get just the right shade and just the right shape to tantalize the viewer and welcome them into my private world.

| Your Personal Biography |
Rippert is a name laced with power and intrigue, yet the sound embodies the strength required of a master painter. Heather Rippert was drawn to art since the first time her mother placed a pencil in her hand. The thirst that started with a drip has turned into a raging flood of emotion and desire to become all she can be. That flood within her extends to her medium: watercolor, as well as her subject matter of sand and sea. Rippert strives for her images to connect emotionally with people who have a passion for art.
Being a person with a deep love of the beach, the serenity and peace it provides for the spirit, Rippert seeks to embody the essence of the sand and sea; the sounds of the incoming and outgoing waves are a constant reminder of the wondrous experience of being alive. She revels in the visual poetry, as well as in the pleasure of painting it for others to embrace.
When you meet the artist in person, it is difficult not to be entirely captivated by her piercing blue eyes and engaging personality. Her stylish flair for fashion and jewelry make a powerful statement that is hard to resist. The soul of an artist stands before you…
Rippert received her BFA at the Maryland Institute, College of Art in 1992. In the second semester of her junior year, Heather was chosen from the student body to study at Edinburgh College of Art, in Scotland. Her travels, beginning with a trip to the Yucatan, and continuing during her semester abroad, and beyond, have breathed a new and powerful energy into her love of painting majestic landscapes and soothing seascapes. Her international experiences continue to enrich her life and artistic voice. To own a “Rippert” is to gain a palpable taste of the authenticity of her expression.
In 2007, Rippert made a firm choice to follow her dream of becoming a full time painter. She has created an ambitious plan to “paint her way into a future filled only with beauty, abundance, creativity and joy!” Although the path has not been easy, Heather has discovered her inner “lioness”: powerful, poised and committed to excellence.
