Artist Statement:
As a self didactic artist I find in art the way of bringing to light the deepest feelings of the spirit and soul. Art is a cleansing process that exposes the weaknesses and strengths that reside within me.
I believe noble gifts come from a divine source. Thus I leave my subconscious to guide me through the creation of surrealistic metamorphic human figures. These figures become a reflection of personal experiences lived with all my relations who are searching for the muse that will bring about balance.
Oil and acrylics guide my journey on the canvas. I do allow myself to be lead through pastels, water colors and mixed-media to create 3 dimensional sculptures....

Roy is also an experienced graphic designer and much of his projects are within a cultural and social context targeting the Hispanic community.
Over the past few years, Roy has become a respected and well-know muralist in the City of Chicago. His work has been commissioned from organizations in the public and private sector. A signature piece of his work is a 38 ft. high by 18 ft long public mural located in 1821 S. Allport St. titled, “Globalization”.
In 1998, the Mexican Fine Arts Center Museum of Chicago invited him to submit a piece he made in Mexico to the group exhibit for “Day of the Dead”.
In the year 2000 he moved back to the Pilsen community in Chicago where he has been heavily involved with the art community. He was commissioned to paint a 17 ft. long mural by 4ft. high at Casa Aztlan, a community organization in Pilsen in 2006, titled “Reforma Laica”.
