Artist Statement:
Allan Storer paints in
Cornwall's old fishing town
St.Ives and the Gower
Peninsular, South Wales;
living a lot in both places.
The artist's objective is to
achieve vibrancy in his
paintings, a sensuality and
depth of colour in thick
lashings of oil paint he
applies vigorously with his
palette knife.
Paintings are exhibited with
local Galleries in London,
Cornwall and Wales.
"I allow the paint to be
itself before it is a
description of anything.....to
assert the oil paints
materiality on the painting
surface, therefore image and
paint are essential equals
dictating I work a certain
direction. The painting
becomes an entity in its own
right.
With a theoretical specialism
in Surrealism, chance plays a
large part in my approach.
The sweeping light,
indifferent natural
forces,storms and colossal
energy, shape Cornwall's
ancient granite and the lime
stoned Gower coastline where I
"practice my craft and sullen
art"*
