Artist Statement:
I have painted in oils and acrylics for over 30 years. I have always painted scenes which hit me and demanded to be painted. Mostly I paint natural landscape. I don't try to improve on nature, and try to reflect the scene as I saw it. I particularly like the effects of light and shadow and of contrasting cool and warm color.
My landscape works are from the Potomac River between Alexandria and Great Falls VA.' The Blue Ridge mountains, Maryland Eastern Shore, and some recent works from Martha's Vineyard.
My most recent works are townscapes, which are exhibited and sold in galleries in Gettysburg PA, Easton MD, Leesburg MD, and Alexandria VA.
There's an endless stream of beautiful scenes to paint, which change with time of day and with season. I try to capture the mood of the place, and to make pictures that people can recognise as places they have seen or visited, but seen in a more poetic light....
