Artist Statement:
I love animals, I always have... and painting them is my passion.
My body of work includes contemporary expressionistic wildlife and animals. Each painting begins with a foundation of thorough research that includes site visits to wildlife areas and parks, farms, zoos and rescues all over the United States.
Whether it’s an intimate close-up of a big cat or a commission of a cherished family pet, my goal is to simplify my subject to capture its essence and unique personality.
At home with several media, my favorite is soft pastel because of the clean, intense color.
Using vibrant color conveys a sense of vitality in my work and
provides the means of expressing my own personal vision.
I donate a portion of the sales from pet portraits of AWS-adopted dogs to the AWS.

| Your Personal Biography |
Internationally-recognized, award-winning artist Carol Santora’s body of work includes contemporary, expressionistic and whimsical animal and wildlife paintings. Santora captures the spirit and unique personality of the animals she paints in colorful, intimate close-ups. Using vibrant color to convey a sense of vitality in her soft pastel paintings, Carol’s painting style is expressive of her personal vision.
Since she was a child, Santora (BFA, Framingham State College) has loved animals of all kinds and that passion is colorfully expressed in her work. At home with several media, her favorite is soft pastel because of the clean, intense color. Each painting begins with a foundation of thorough research that includes site visits to wildlife parks, farms and rescues all over the United States. Carol donates a portion of the sales from pet portraits of AWS-adopted dogs to the AWS.
A Signature Member of the Pastel Society of America, Carol has garnered over four-dozen awards including several First Place, People’s Choice and Best in Show awards at exhibits all over the United States and in France.
