Artist Statement:
The main body of my work is in contemporary theatre through Stretch Mk1, my own image based theatre company. Over the years, various set and costume designs have been distilled down into entities in their own right, Sky Sculpture.
Peoples reactions are a source of inspiration, as is working with the materials and a pleasant chaos which pervades the studio space.
Main pieces are not for sale. However, scale working models and orders based on the originals are available on order....

Reviews for Benni Seidel:

No one in Australia 'reviews' Street Theatre or free public stuff, unless it is an Overseas company or presented by an institutional body, and then it is more 'publicity' than actual critical dialogue. For years I have been trying to rectify this. The answer is alway, "But how do we review street theatre?"
I have tried to say that one could apply the same criteria as to any other form of theatre. I.e., is it a good performance, good content, stimulating etc etc. Alas, the reply I have so far recieved is, "But there is no box office." I have therefore come to the sad conclusion that reviews in Australia are about money, not the art form being presented!
We do have reviews in heaps of foreign languages. I stubbornly refuse to get them translated into English just to add weight to the above, they do however all describe our work as 'Indescribable'.
Quite frankly, I haven't needed reviews! But if you'd like some go smk1.com/brazil/saopaulo/sp93.html (Portugese)
